Select Special Privacy Policy

At Cellstronaut, your privacy is a top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data while you use the Select Special add-on for Google Sheets. By using the add-on, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal, analytical, or usage data from your spreadsheets. The only data collected is anonymous technical error information to help us fix bugs (see Section 5).

Exception — License data: If you purchase a license, the add-on stores your license key and associated metadata (including your email) locally in your Google account. This data comes from Lemon Squeezy and is used solely for license validation.

1.1 Data Retention and Deletion

The add-on does not retain or store any of your spreadsheet data.

All spreadsheet data interactions occur solely within the Google Sheets environment during the active session initiated by the user. Once the session ends, no spreadsheet data is retained.

License data retention: Your license key and metadata are stored locally in your Google account (via Google Apps Script User Properties) and persist until you deactivate your license. You can deactivate your license at any time through the add-on menu, which removes this data from your account.

2. Access to Data

The add-on requires limited permissions (scopes) to function properly:

“Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications”.

Description: To display third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications, run third-party code in your browser, receive data you input.

In Select Special add-on usage: Required to display the add-on’s interface.

“See all your Google Sheets spreadsheets”.

Description: See and download your spreadsheets (including settings and metadata).

In Select Special add-on usage: Required for using the Sheets api. Used solely to read data from the active sheet in the active spreadsheet.

“View and manage spreadsheets that this application has been installed in”.

Description: View, modify, and share with other users spreadsheets that this application has been installed in.

In Select Special add-on usage: Required for using the SpreadsheetApp. Used for reading data and performing operations (like copying data or adding formulas) within the active spreadsheet.

“Connect to an external service.”

Description: Create a network connection to any external service (e.g., to read or write data)

In Select Special add-on usage: This permission is used only to manage your license key — activate, validate, or deactivate it. The add-on connects exclusively to Lemon Squeezy, a trusted payment provider, using their License API. No other external connections are made.

3. Data processing

The add-on operates solely within the scope of your Google Sheets environment and interacts only with the data necessary to perform its intended functions.

4. Data Transmission

Spreadsheet data: All spreadsheet operations occur locally within Google’s infrastructure (Google Apps Script) or your browser. Your spreadsheet data is never sent to external servers.
License data: When you activate, validate, or deactivate a license, the add-on sends your license key to Lemon Squeezy for verification. No spreadsheet data is included in these requests.
No offline data access: The add-on cannot access your data when it is not in use.

We do not sell or share your data with any third parties. License verification requests to Lemon Squeezy contain only your license key — no spreadsheet or personal data is included. The add-on does not store or retain any of your spreadsheet data outside your Google environment.

5. Error Monitoring

The add-on uses Sentry to detect and fix software errors. When an error occurs in the add-on’s interface, the following technical information may be sent to Sentry:

Error details: error message, stack trace, and browser environment (browser type, OS)
Application context: add-on version, environment (production/development)

What is NOT collected:

No spreadsheet data, cell contents, or formulas
No personal information (name, email, IP address)
No cookies, URLs, or network request details
No text content from UI elements you interact with

This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs. It is not shared with any other parties and is subject to Sentry’s Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

The add-on operates entirely within the Google Workspace environment and does not rely on third-party services for its core functionality, except for: (1) web-content files required to display the add-on’s interface, (2) license verification via Lemon Squeezy, and (3) error monitoring via Sentry.

7. Security Measures

We use Google’s secure infrastructure to ensure your data remains safe while using the add-on.

Any files needed to display the add-on’s interface are downloaded securely using an encrypted connection.

However, we cannot guarantee absolute security due to the nature of online platforms. Users are encouraged to exercise caution and follow best practices for data security.

8. User Responsibility

It is your responsibility to use the add-on in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Avoid sharing sensitive or confidential information within your spreadsheets unnecessarily.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Updated versions will always be accessible via the Product’s listing or website. Continued use of the add-on after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

10. Additional

All processes involving user information in the add-on will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
